This striking viewpoint can be easily reached on foot from Abensberg. The mountain appears to have been a prehistoric hill fortress, but apparently has not yet been archaeologically researched, although many funnel-shaped pits in the northeastern part bear witness to predatory excavations. There is no official parking lot, but there is a possibility to park in the settlement south of the Galgenberg. The artificial square embankment on the mountain dates from the 20th century, where there is a bench and an information board about the special animal and plant species of this nature reserve.
