A fire lake in this part of Germany is actually a pond with fire water for the fire department, if it is burning. The old fire lake for Zavelstein, which was built in 1900, was taken in 1953 in a stable pool and thus increased the capacity. It is rectangular and measures only a few steps in length and width. To increase safety, a steel grid structure was installed only a few centimeters below the water surface. Nevertheless, you can not enter these at any time. The lake is fed by two lines: the Rötenbacher spring and the Lammquelle. Both run above ground in the form of small fountains in the "lake". Visually unimpressive, it clearly shows the ubiquitous important importance of water supply for each community, and here Zavelstein in particular. The Feuersee is part of the Zavelsteiner Brunnentour.
