Great thing!! Wolfgang stopped my bike on Thursday last week. I've been driving twice now and it feels great.
If someone has problems cycling, maybe think about a bike fitting.
Bike ERgonomic in Erlangen is recommended.
I felt very competently advised.
Abstract: Very good and informative advice on bike fitting. I have to try out the long-term results first, but I'm very confident after the session. If, contrary to expectations, the expected success does not occur, I will add it here, otherwise a good result can be assumed. If you are interested in the advice in detail, please read on now.
Preparation:
I got my appointment at relatively short notice (approx. 1-2 weeks after calling) and was able to keep it. In view of the situation, a mask was of course necessary, but it doesn't really bother you if you don't sprint straight away on the roller trainer. It makes sense to bring your own equipment (pants, shoes, if necessary jersey) and of course your own bike. For the session (bike fitting including saddle pressure measurement) you should plan around two hours in which one person continuously deals with the bike and the rider.
Procedure:
The session begins with a brief inventory and a record of the actual goal of bike fitting. I wanted to get rid of seat problems and generally have the racing bike adjusted by a professional.
This is followed by a few measurements on the wheel to determine the geometry of the wheel.
Then you can dress up and get on your own bike with your own equipment, which has been clamped to the roller trainer in the meantime, and the saddle pressure measurement begins. The driver moves on the roller trainer while the pressure on the saddle is measured and visualized and analyzed in real time. After every relevant change (new saddle, different angle of inclination, etc.) a new series of measurements is taken. Each series is discussed individually.
In my case, it quickly became clear that a new saddle with an adjusted position would be the most promising solution. Another saddle was then installed and the expected result was confirmed by a new series of measurements.
Afterwards, a few more adjustments were made (saddle position, saddle inclination, seat height, stem position) and in a last series of measurements it was confirmed that these settings, together with the new saddle, would probably bring me closer to my goal.
After the bike was released from the roller trainer again and all screws were meticulously tightened with the torque wrench (exemplary!) And I was back in my leisure clothes in the meantime, we also reached the end of the session - pretty much exactly according to the time forecast of two hours.
The atmosphere:
The care was very relaxed and easy-going. In addition, I was always able to ask a few questions that were sometimes more and sometimes less close to the topic, but were always answered well. I had the impression that my counterpart also enjoyed this work, which of course is also a key to this atmosphere.
Even though we were right on time, I never had the feeling that we were rushing or sloppy at any point. In case of doubt, we would have exceeded ten minutes rather than not having finished the job properly.
I also really liked the fact that I was always able to understand what we were doing, why and how, in order to achieve a result.
Sure, the mask is currently not really fun for anyone, no matter where you are. Nevertheless, I have to say that I imagined the whole thing to be worse and had no real problem with it due to the short session, although I had to wear the mask for a maximum of 45 minutes at a time.
Summary:
I was very satisfied with the whole session, especially with the price-performance ratio (the price can be requested from the provider). I am now really confident that the next long tours will be (more) pain-free and I also feel more confident that the bike is simply well adjusted.
