The construction of the Red Tower (German: Roter Turm) in Halle lasted almost a century. It began to be built on the Market Square in 1418 and completed construction only after 85 years. The uniqueness of this building is that it was never part of any temple complex, the townspeople decided to put it precisely as a symbol of the well-being of the city. Below at the base of the tower, a statue of the knight Roland was placed - a sign of a free city. There are 76 bells on the belfry. The tower is recognized as the largest in Europe and the third in the world belfry.

Nice place, only you can't see the carillon (Corona). History of the carillon VEB Glockengießerei Schilling in Apolda from 1976 (clock strike 1976) and was finally completed in 1993 with the kind support of the Carl Metz foundry from Karlsruhe, where Peter & Magarete Schilling worked from 1990

The red tower is one of the landmarks of Halle and is called "red" tower not because it was red, but because the death sentences were executed here. Literally and literally inject the blood of the condemned against the tower. On the right to high jurisdiction, Roland also knows that stands directly on the red tower.

Beautiful square and tower. Festive Christmas fair is what you need!
