Barclays Bank

Awful experience. I live in Newcastle however my elderly father lives in Blackpool and banks with Barclays. I have Power of Attorney, joint and several with my aunt to deal with dad's financial matters. He wanted us to close his savings account with a different bank and open an instant savers account with Barclays. I took time off work and travelled down and my aunt and I visited this branch. We were there over an hour whilst all of the paperwork was completed which in itself I wasn't too concerned about however I then had to sign for a new card to access this account which didn't turn up. I called Barclays only to be told no card had been ordered!!! The advisor on the phone then ordered this for me however then advised that the new card was only to be used on his current account and if I needed one for his new savings account I would have to visit a branch. I then explained again that I had in fact visited the branch and signed for a card. The advisor called the branch whilst I was on hold and advised me that the member of staff who dealt with this would call me back that day....that was Tuesday and it's now Saturday and I'm still waiting. As I work full time it's likely I'll have to take more time off to visit my local branch and get this sorted. I'm really disappointed with the service from Barclays lately who only seem to be interested in the business and international banking customers and not people like my father who has banked with them for 40 yearrs

One machine is out of service, the other is not excepting cheaques. 3 branches closed in Fylde area within the last 2 years. Barclays app on android is a nightmare to deal with. Thanks Barclays for the great service.

Great place friendly & helpful staff. Sometimes have to wait awhile for service due to them being busy
