The bank commenced banking business on the 24th March 1958. The bank is licensed under Section 22 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 (AACS) under No. RPCD. Guwa/2011-12/SCB-2 dated 29th March 2012 The bank is in its 58 year of banking service and it has been playing a crucial role in the economic development of Manipur by extending credit facilities to the credit starve people of the State. It has presence in all the Districts of the State, except Chandel District.
