Marconi underground station near Pulitzer hotel ...

It's a metro station, one doesn't visit these for a joie de vie. However, Marconi hides a delightful secret: an automated toilet. From the moment you slot your 50c Euro coin into its slot, this vanguard of the future springs into action. A loud, beeping alarm hurries you into a sealed container with a an incredibly wet floor that definitely is not piss. Immediately, instructions are barked at you in Italian, from how to access your ration of up to 10 squares of single ply toilet paper, to the exact dimensions of the room you are currently sealed in. You will need to save some of those sheets for wiping the wet toilet seat, giving an exciting survival aspect to your stay on the porcelain throne. Once all is done, simply cleanse your hands and step out. As you allow your experience of post-nuclear bunker life to wash over you, listen carefully for the sound of the automated cleaning system, designed to leave the place soaking wet ready for the next guest! Though it is a bit out of the way, one could say that a visit to Rome would be incomplete without this experience!

The metro station has a large park, but very dirty and dangerous at night. There are ticket vending machines, payable with coins, banknotes or bank cards. You can leave the station via via Marconi or via Ostiense. to exit via Ostiense you need to go down the parking lot. On via Marconi just straight from the wall.
