A place full of history immersed in the beautiful Elba landscape. The church nearby (eremo) is renovated but it's worth a visit. You must leave your car in a small parking 300 m away and reach the botanical garden on foot. The garden is a splendid sample of Elba flora, they also produce honey of all sorts.

The place itself is beautiful and particular, but on the guides it was indicated as free admission, instead 4 euros per person, a few thirsty and poorly maintained plants, the vineyard and we are in dry September, in short, to be considered as a place to visit

If you come to Rio nell'Elba also pass by to see the Garden of the simple near the Hermitage of Santa Caterina, plants of the Mediterranean scrub, especially herbaceous and a collection of works by Cesario Carena architect and his capillarity, ask and you will be told .

The vegetable garden of the Semplici is located adjacent to the Hermitage of Santa Caterina in Rio nell'Elba and was born with the aim of making known the typical plants of the island of Elba cultivated and spontaneous. Walking in the garden you can admire different types of vegetation and fruit trees, all equipped with a sign indicating the name, and in some cases even the period of harvest or flowering and therapeutic properties. The garden is divided into various sectors including "Il frutteto", "L'orticello succeeds" and "La Terrazza dei Fedi".
