There is one, more or less large, in every village, town or Italian city; remember the fallen of the Great War. I believe that at this moment it serves to remind everyone of the importance of peace and a Europe of peace, acceptance and sharing, without walls or fences.

The Parco della Rimembranza (Memorial Park) was inaugurated in 1924 to commemorate the deceased massetans of the First World War. On each tree hung a shield with the name and regiment of the deceased soldier. In 1938, the monument inaugurated in 1901 was brought to Giuseppe Garibaldi, which until then had stood on Cathedral Square with its back to the cathedral. The monument is a work of the anticlerical Ettore Ferrari of Rome, who has otherwise created many associated with the Risorgimento monuments and busts that reflect his ideals of freedom.
