One of the only two salt lakes in Italy. Compared to that of Lesina, much smaller and not very deep (70-100 cm), the Varano lake is quite wide, fairly deeper and with the surrounding area very interesting. On the side of the isthmus it has undergone uncontrolled settlements, which see it less defended. The remaining perimeter offers great prospects, even for colorful glimpses and ancient olive trees, along with various dwellings, even semi-ruined, fishermen, historically self-sufficient for the fruits of the lake and pasture. Lake Varano is an Apulian lake belonging entirely to the province of Foggia divided between the municipalities of Cagnano Varano, Carpino and Ischitella.Wikipedia Area: 60.5 km² Length: 10 km Average depth: 3 m
