It was Achille Lauro who wanted the construction of the fountain during the period of his municipal council, between 1952 and 1957. ... The response of the mayor Lauro then was the installation of a fountain he donated to the city, precisely the Artichoke fountain , inaugurated on the evening of April 29, 1956.

Fountain wanted and built by the mayor Lauro, therefore dating back to a few decades ago. It performs a function of urban furniture that does not hurt in the context in which it is located. It acts as a traffic roundabout, often chaired by the urban police. Much known by Neapolitans and tourists

The Fontana del Carciofo is one of the monumental fountains of Naples, located at the center of today's Piazza Trieste e Trento. It was Achille Lauro who wanted to build the fountain in the period of his municipal council, between 1952 and 1957. The fountain is composed of two levels: at the base there is a large basin with another small raised basin in the middle that supports a sculpture in the shape of a floral corolla. On the three sides of the monument there are three pairs of decorated vases. It is from the shape of the corolla, resembling an artichoke, that comes the popular nickname of the fountain. During 2015, the monument underwent extensive restoration and cleaning, thus returning to its original appearance.

Pretty and goes well with the square, but it is not a special monument in itself;)
