Nozawa Onsen Snow Resort

Every time I ski, here is first choice. Beautiful town and really caring staff about the landscape and keeps it very picturesque.

Gorgeous town and a beautiful and well maintained ski slopes. The town is extremely small but is very friendly to tourists. There are a couple of western restaurants that accept cards. You can pick out these restraunts almost immediately because they tend to have lots of signage in English. The hot springs are something you must experience, but even if you don't feel comfortable getting naked you can go to the public foot bath for free.

Love this place. Tons of great food, wonderful onsen, friendly locals and incredible atmosphere overall. I've seen this place change a lot in the past 20 years and it's a whole lot more international now. Hope to keep visiting for the next 20 years.

Probably the best of Nagano resorts for advanced terrain, with several nice steep parts. This year the snow is a bit lacking, but the runs on the top are perfect.

Many gentle slopes for beginners and slow cruisers alike. The best ones are on higher altitude (Paradise, Uenodaira, Rinkan) so don't restrict yourself to the base area. The courses are big enough to accommodate the crowd but the lines for lifts and gondolas can be really long. They need to upgrade them to high-speed ones.
