It’s tough to find a hotel for a long weekend in Japan, but we lucky enough to find this place. The hotel concept itself is exciting and has a cool vibe around the interior and decorations. However, the flow of the guest visiting is a bit weird and confusing. Since the check-in, waiting area, bar, dining almost feels like it combined. The room is clean and well decorated. The outdoor bath was exceptional in this cold weather but don’t expect much on the view from the riverside. The cocktail is excellent and beautiful at the level of instragramable. The food, dinner, and breakfast were decent and could be better in this range of price.
The hotel was very nice and I really enjoyed my stay.
First, let me be up front and say the purpose of my visit was to not be bothered or site see. I wanted to relax and disconnect from work and other taxing responsibilities currently going on in life, so this review is based on those trip expectations.
The staff was very friendly and spoke good English, I don't speak any Japanese and I didn't have any issues getting what I wanted at the front desk or in the restaurant.
The food was decent, you get a free drink if you are a spire elite member and you can use it at the restaurant or lounge. Be careful on portion size, it's not small, but just enough to fill you up. if you are extremely hungry and don't feel like paying 5 star hotel prices for meals make sure you load up on some snacks from the surrounding convenient stores.
The room was the best part of my stay and I loved every second of it. It was extremely difficult to leave the bed and when I finally did it was only to move to the patio onsen. I didn't visit the hotel public spa or onsen but I didn't see a reason to when I could enjoy my personal private one in my room. I would recommend you bring your own beach scandals but there were hotel ones provided. The shower was also outstanding, offering a rainfall style faucet. All in all the amenities were great and the coffee machine was a nescafé which was a bonus.
The also have a shuttle bus that goes from Odawara station and another local shuttle that can get you around to some of the sites if that's what your looking to do.
This was my first trip since February and although traveling is quite difficult right now due to COVID, I would definitely recommend escaping to Hotel Indigo in Hakone for a night or two.
This hotel is a 4.5, the room is a 5 and you could literally spend the whole day your onsen destressing...
Thanks for everything Hotel Indigo!!
The hotel itself is very nice, but communication prior to stay was not very good. We also couldn't get a dinner table before 20.45 which is unacceptable at such a premier hotel. Rooms is great with private onsen!
This is a modern hotel, althought it’s kinda small than we expected.
the staff are great, they work very professionally. There are a lot of staff that use English and of course Japanese to communicate. I would like to thank the male staff from Southeast Asia in reception desk for being so friendly and helping us with the necessary information for our stay.
We will definitely come back for more interesting things in Hakone.
Closer to to-be 2nd house and the food is decent and room is just enough for 2ppl.
