Nice open air private onsen. In-room breakfast was delicious. Futons are comfortable and very warm. Clean room. Only thing that needs improvement is the hair dryer. It doesn't have strong enough air speed and it takes forever to dry my hair.

Expensive ryokan at usd 280 a night with only breakfast included. Breakfast was excellent. Public shower onsen was good. Private shower onsen is outdoors and really cold so no an option when we went in end March. Wanted to charge us extra 8,000 yen for a third person. In the end we went for the option of extra 6,000 yen for one more persons breakfast and without an extra futon. Booking triple rooms through Expedia is tricky in Japan as they do not allow you to book 3 persons in a room, or the room availability disappears once you say you have 3 persons. Trying to communicate with the owner after you have booked is also difficult as many of them do not speak English. In the end, being made to pay extra when you are not expecting it is not pleasant when you had the intention to be upfront about the number of people you have in your travel party. You also have no idea before hand how much they want to charge you for an extra person. I believe most people do not like the uncertainty of that.
