New Miyako Hotel Ashikaga

Nice place, friendly staff but no closet in the rooms!

Ten steps from the train station, a very pleasant place to stay, at business hotel prices. The restaurant on the 9th floor has a panoramic view over the river, and the city on the opposite bank, nestled in the crook of the mountains. The rooftop courtyard, on the 4th floor in front of the wedding chapel, becomes a beer garden lit by fairy lights from 6-9pm. When I visited, seats in the courtyard were wet from the rain, but four tables nestled under the eaves of the wedding chapel served as a romantic sort of private beer garden. Single rooms for business travelers are very slightly larger than the equivalent in Tokyo, the twin room is adequate for a couple, and the triple for a family. Few foreigners here (I saw one other than myself, in my 7-day stay) . Event rooms on the 3rd and 4th floor are booked full with local civic events every day of the week.

good point : viewing from the restaurant at 9th floor bad point : pooooor menu, cold dishes, non smile services…etc…

The rooms are clean and nice place for relaxing ,,
