I was lucky to spend a few days at Irodori Guesthouse together with my grown-up daughter. At first we had booked only two nights to spend the New Year's Eve at Kamakura, but then we came back because we had enjoyed the communicative and utmost friendly atmosphere at the guesthouse. We prepared and had dinner together with our host as well as other guests and learned a lot about Japanese culture. Irodori Guesthouse was the best place to stay throughout all our roundtrip of Japan.
You can feel the samurai-vibes and the owner is a samurai himself!
Highly recommended for everyone visting Kamakura!
The owner is a great cook and knows the area and his neighbors well. His english is decent and he dabbles in other languages as new visitors from all over visit his home. You are welcomed like family here.
Great Guest house. Owner very charismatic and super helpful for the area. Provided good ideas for late night drink, and entertaining conversation for those that wanted to, and let those who did not be in peace.
