If you like drums this is a must! For anybody else, the fun part is that you can actually play almost every instrument exposed, including a few Taiko drums! A well stocked store is in the premises, with an offer of everything you need for a true Japanese parade.

You need to be very keen on drums to enjoy this.

To me this was a store and not a museum. The bottom is all store but the upstairs is supposed to be the museum but everything up there seemed to have price tags too. Not much material or other explanation either on the drums upstairs. Unless I totally misunderstood the concept, it all looked like an extension of the store.

Looked promising. But not tourist friendly. Insisted on paying cash Yen.. no credit card, even though they accept it for gift purchases. Could not visit. No exchange house nearby and my ATM was not working.

The museum has 2 floors with shops stocking Taiko equipment from drumsticks to shoes all the way to drums that cost thousands of dollars. Very helpful English speaking staff and have tax free services if you purchase over 5000 yen. One bonus was the drumsticks name engraving which our Japanese friend said was available for only 324 yen (it was only mentioned in a Japanese sign). Apparently it normally takes a week to do, but we were leaving in 2 hours and the staff offered to have it done in 1 hour. Excellent service and the laser naming engraving was amazing. We also spent an hour on the fourth floor drum museum (500 yen) which is a small room with drums from all over the world, but of which you can play with. Well worth going to!
