Charmant Hiuchi

Nice small place for downhill or cross country skiers. It’s 29 December and at last some reasonable coverage. Groomers have done a good job getting the runs up to scratch. By 9.30am there was a small trickle of people coming in with both skis and snowboards. With only two runs open it’ll be interesting to see how busy it gets There are lockers on the ground floor to use but your gear is safe here in Japan. Upstairs is a dining area, place to get your gear on, buy your lift pass, rent skis or for a friend of mine, they tweaked his own skis at no cost. A small shop selling basic ski wear is here as well. The runs are steep and the views picturesque when the cloud clears. Notes: good parking. Kid friendly. Staff are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Nice powder skiing

It's Mid April and still snowing, with 4 meters of accumulation already! Much smaller than most of the slopes in the bigger resort areas, but definitely some of the best snow in Japan.
