Reviews
This hotel is suitable for young couples travelling with elderlies/kids.
My mother (elderly), wife and I (young couple) took a 3-bedder room in this hotel from 15 to 18 January 2020. This was our first visit to Kumamoto. We were happy to stay at this hotel.
The location of this hotel is convenient. Bus No. 1 at Kumamoto Airport could come to Sakura Machi Bus Terminal directly (sharing the same location as the hotel) in around 90 minutes. The hotel was new. It is opposite to Kamitoricho (with a variety of excellent restaurants) and tram station (cheap and convenient transport) and is not far away from (I would not say close to) Kumamoto Castle under re-construction. I did not use it but the hotel could provide parking lot. Staff were polite and could communicate with us in English.
Our 3-bedder room was not spacious but we were perfectly fine with it. It was clean and had good noise protection.
To go to Aso, we bought bus tickets at Sakura Machi Bus Terminal and took bus at Station No. 6.
If you need to take care of elderlies/kids, you may want to keep walking distance short. As this place is close to Sakara Machi Bus Terminal (on G/F) and good restaurants (opposite to the hotel), they do not need to walk for too long. Your wife will be happy shopping at Kamitoricho (opposite to the hotel). Happy wife, happy life.
Location is great but the main entrance might be a little difficult to the guests who are the first visiting. The main entrance is located at the 2nd floors of the train station building, and there are 2 elevators and guests have to take it to the 14th floor which is the lobby of this hotel.
Rooms are clean and cozy, but size is just like the other hotels in Japan, TINY (at least this hotel is much bigger than others). I think it's ok for people who just wanna have a place to stay.
Normal price here is ok for the facilities here, I would strongly recommend you to stay here if you just see my comment.
Buffet to small compared to the number of rooms, the size of the rooms is tiny (Business Hotel Tokyo...) compared to the price of the night 210 usd...
The standard room feels like a luxury business hotel.
■ Good points
・ Because it is still new, it is beautiful
・ The bed is large and comfortable
・ The room is larger than a general business hotel
・ The bathroom is large and easy to use
・ Overall fashionable
・ Good location (just above the bus terminal, near the downtown area)
■ Bad points
・ The wireless LAN environment is hopelessly bad (downlink 0.5 Mbps)
・ There is a wired LAN port, but there is no LAN cable rental (you should buy or bring it)
・ The air purifier has many scratches, the plug does not bend and stick (just bad luck)
・ Amenity is not much different from business hotels
・ The refrigerator is small
It was a waste to use for business trips, but I felt that it was not enough to use for commemorative trips. If you're traveling on an anniversary, maybe a suite is better.
When I stayed at Standard, I was worried about the price, but I was able to spend it comfortably.
The location is the best. However, when you stop on the top floor, it is very troublesome to have to use two elevators. However, the staff were very kind and friendly, and I think it was good to stay. Amenity and room are good. Bed is the best
