TNM & TOPPAN Museum Theater

Visited in November 2020. I saw the explanation of the national treasure "Shorin-zu byobu" exhibited in the special exhibition "100 Years of Momoyama and Tenkajin". Not only the highlights of the work, but also the author and the background of the times were taught in 30 minutes in an easy-to-understand manner, which deepened my understanding. It cost 600 yen, but it was well worth it.

This is a paid facility located on the first basement floor of the Tokyo National Museum Toyokan. You can enjoy 4K VR video that combines the academic supervision of Tohoku and the high precision digital technology of Toppan Printing while listening to the commentary of the dedicated navigator. To view the Museum Theater, a separate admission fee is required from the entrance fee to the Expo, but it is a recommended facility because it comes with beautiful images and detailed explanations.

It is located in a corner of the exhibition in the basement of the Toyokan, and although there is an additional charge, you can see images projected from angles that are not normally seen, such as national treasures. It's always free and you can see it comfortably, and at the end you can take interesting pictures. Since it is a 45 to 50 minute video at a time, you cannot leave the room once you enter, so please allow plenty of time. It's well worth the price.

High-precision photographs of works of art will be exhibited on a large, high-precision screen. Because it is digital, you can change the magnification and angle, and you can see not only the current state, but also the restored state of the original production. Both protection of art and entertainment. From now on, I think that such efforts will be required more.
