Dirtiness!! The bathroom and toliet were not just dirty but DISGUSTING. The owner should understand that there should be maintaned a certain levl of cleanliness otherwise it is not adequate for accommodation. The bed linen was not clean and fresh as well. I believe that maybe it is changed not after every single guest, we were so much disappointed that we had to sleep without taking off our clothes. The wardrobe in the room was full of owner's personal belongings, so we could not put our things there. I DEFINITELY SUGGEST TO AVOID THIS PLACE.

Very nice host and owner of the house. Authentic every day living like a local in a very local neighbourhood. Not sparkling clean, but hey i am not fancy nancy 😊

Air conditioned during the humid weather. A standard lodge for backpackers. Downside is the temperamental Wi-Fi connection.

Let's be honest: this is spartan lodging. The rooms are small, the bathroom isn't too clean, it's a bit far from the station and from the city center, and there isn't any damn convenience store around. But at this price, what did you expect? As in most guest houses, you get what you pay for, and in this case you didn't pay much, so don't come complaining. This guest house is not for tourists or families. It's best enjoyed when you already know Japan and don't expect anything more than a bed and some company. If you speak the language, the owner might just take you on a daydrinking tour around Ueno... This guesthouse is therefore recommended to seasoned backpackers and young people who like to keep things simple. Tourists, families and those seeking a comfortable stay: stop trying to save every penny and book a real hotel, or you'll end up disappointed.

It was extremely dirty, there were pubes everywhere, on the tatami floor, on the bed, all over the room. The kitchen was disgusting, the toilet wasn't been cleaned in ages and the air conditioned was full of dust. Revolving place all over. Calm neighbourhood though.
