Such a great experience! Our room backed onto a beautiful fish pond and stream. Our hosts prepared us such beautiful meals and entertained us as we ate. Would love to come back
This is an ideal place to stay when on the Kisoji. The owners, whose family have owned the house for 118 years, do farming and foraging in the valley. Breakfast and dinner consisted of local food. The master will sing local Kiso songs very well for you after dinner. Rooms mainly overlook a flowing river and the house's pond.
This nice and quiet guesthouse is the most phantastic and authentic Japanese place inside the Kiso valley.
The stay at Koshinzuka was perfect! It was warm, comfy, the food was wonderful and the atmosphere with the hosts and the guests was really pleasant.
They even gave us a lift to our next hotel!
The place is on the Nakasendo trail and right next to a bus stop.
Rooms are japanese style and bathroom is shared with other rooms, but it is very clean and the wooden bath is really nice.
This was a simply wonderful experience. We were delighted to find that our room had a private balcony overlooking the house pond... with fish!
Koshinzuka is a truly remarkable person. A farmer, a gardener and a host, his love of sharing local Japanese culture and stories about his family is simply wonderful.
The food (a generous dinner and breakfast) was cooked by his wife . We ate a lot of good food in Japan but this was exquisite.
Apart from a novel way of eating noodles (Koshinzuka has created a moment of hilarious 'Japanese TV ultimate challenge' type fun) he even lit the fire for a while, and sang beautifully..... I didn't feel like a tourist in his home. I felt like a guest.
