Ryokan Kato

One of the most beautiful lodge that I’ve ever stay with out door onsen (cannot take photo). Traditional Breakfast set so yummy and look nice

Had a wonderful time at Ryokan Kato. We went right after Cherry blossom season which is the low season on the mountain. So we get in at around 5pm and are greeted so warmly. We are shown to our room, get our stuff settled in then head out around 6pm to walk about the village. We start to realize that most shops and restaurants close at 6pm. We were fairly hungry for travelling so we were looking for somewhere to grab a bite. Eventually we decide that's not happening and head back to the Ryokan to purchase something there. Well not only are the hosts so incredibly kind; they're incredibly accommodating. They ask us if we would like a drive into the town to grab something to eat. They drive us 15 minutes out of the way to go to a fresh grocery store. Incredibly selfless and kind. The whole trip was about 30 minutes and it was all to help us out. Incredible. Once we get back to our room we hear a knock on the door and it's our host, yet again, reading our minds. In comes snacks and 2 delicious glasses of wine. We were thrilled. The next day we asked last minute is we could have dinner at the Ryokan. Of course they accepted. That know we enjoyed a delicious traditional Japanese meal. It was wonderful and we were so happy to enjoy the meal and experience. Another thing, the actual hotel and grounds are beautiful. There's an incredible view from a common area with large windows. The baths are also unbelievable. We took advantage of it and loved it. It really helped us relax after a crazy busy start to our vacation. This is a fantastic Ryokan run by an equally fantastic family. I will never hesitate to recommend a stay here.

Very friendly staff, we went there as a couple 2 years ago. We missed our train and arrived very late at night. The madam waited for us and then even though the kitchen was closed, she prepared something for us to eat since we missed dinner (it was around 22:30 and we know that they wake up extra early the next morning). We will return there on day for sure ! Also the onsen is great and the breakfast room is amazing ! and the breakfast was super yummy !

Traditional immersion in ryokan culture. Outstanding

This ryokan is close to the station and easily accessible by bus or cable car. The owners were extremely nice and welcoming! Rooms we’re large and clean. Overall very impressed and would visit again!
