We came to the hotel during the winter season. It was very beautiful and relaxed. The breakfast was Japanese style and pretty good. The Onsen and private Onsen were amazing (private costs 2000 yen for 70 minutes and totally worth it). The staff was really nice and helpful (but only one of them spoke English). The problems: if you don't have a car you need to rely on hotel shuttles that leave twice in the morning abd return twice in the evening. Otherwise, a taxi to Nagiso costs 5000 yen. We didn't try the dinner because it was very expensive: 6000 yen per person. The room has hot water dispenser if you want to fix your own dinner.

Fantastic ryokan accomodation in a serene setting. We stayed in a traditional ryokan styled room with a gorgeous view of the mountains and greenery. The onsens are beautiful and switch over daily, so you can experience both sides / views (as the genders are separated as per usual onsen etiquette). We paid a little extra to use the private onsen as a couple in the evening and the view was beautiful and starlit (I recommend to try this once as it is so peaceful and very secluded, please wear sandals or slip on shoes to walk to the top as the floor is pebbly!). The dinner was excellent with an array of dishes presented beautifully. The hotel staff are very friendly and we had a very helpful, multilingual waiter help us with the dinner menu. I would highly recommend staying at hotel Fuki No Mori as it was so peaceful. It also has a lovely bus driver who can take you and pick you up to the train station and bus stop (for the Tsumago - Magome trail) for free (just ensure to call ahead of your arrival from the train station). ありがとうございました。

At the height of central japanese alpen, you can seize the sly with full stars. With a very comfortable hot springs, you can also try a great Japanese food.

Even though you can see some sign of time, good maintenance and a lot of courtesy from the staff will make your stay here worthwhile. Rooms are spacious, as well as all the common areas. Lots of fish and meat in the kaiseki dinner, but they can arrange for you a vegetarian meal. We stayed in spring but given the position, the rotenburo and the numerous fireplace I guess this is a place that can be at its best during the cold winters.
