Turtle Inn Nikko annex Hotori-an

Splendid rest in divine space. Conveniently distant yet close to everything. Lovely service. Spectacular onsen.

We had an emergency and needed to stop in for a bit to settle something. The lobby was deserted and we were the only people there. We attempted to purchase something but were not able to. We notified the receptionist of our desire to sit for a small while. After a short amount of time, the front desk person rather rudely said that she was very upset that we came in without asking and that she hoped that our emergency had “cleared up already.” We left, and thought that we were so glad my wife and I were the recipients of that famous Japanese “omotenashi” at the turtle inn. I wouldn’t recommend saying here.

Rather bad service and the onsen advertised not existing except having a long waiting time. So questionable value for money

The staff is great, very friendly and helpful, always willing to help. The hotel and rooms are extremely clean and the rooms are cleaned daily. The private onzen is a luxury to have and eventhough it is shared by all the guests, you can always find plenty of time to use it. The dinning room is a welcoming place where to have a coffee or some complimentary green tea. The location is peaceful and 10 minutes away from the bus stop and shop. I totally recomend the experience here.

Great place to stay in Nikko. Its around a 15 minute walk to the main temples and a short taxi ride from the station. The room was comfortable and we had a great river view. The onsen was wonderful, it's private which was a nice perk. You just go in when the sign says its free. It has sliding windows so you can enjoy the sight and sound of the river while relaxing in the water, beautiful.
