The overall experience was very good. Place was super clean. Room was very spacious and neat. Western bathroom and Shower room is present. Onsen was nice as well. Very relaxing. Will definitely come back :)

Great retro style Japanese ryokan hotel. Excellent value for money. Staff is polite, the onsen is great, on par with much more expensive hotels in Japan. WiFi in the rooms is a bit weak, but it's OK. When we visited there was no food on offer, but they pointed us to great restaurants in walking distance.

The hotel is old fashioned and just generally old, you feel as though you’ve time jumped to the 1980s - also Japanese style so no shoes - its well maintained but seems as though it’s seen better days, I think we were the only guests which meant the public bath all to ourselves, but no dinner service. Our first night the receptionist was very hospitable despite his lack of English and showed us where to collect ammenities such as extra towels, slippers etc. Draw backs are, the reception changed on nights 2 and 3, to which they barely made a facial expression let alone a greeting, which made the empty hotel feel a little lonelier. They had board games at reception but it costs 500yen a night to rent them, which felt kinda icky, like who charges to play jenga? Location wise it’s a trek to the toshogu shrine, Nikko central and Yumoto hot springs, we were lucky to have a car and explore everything during the day but would be a nightmare to commute anywhere without a car. I wish the hotel could make use of its large dining hall, beautiful bath and qwerky style but unfortunately it’s hay days seem long gone. Overall not a bad stay, but not a good stay either.

Really interesting hotel. You have to store your shoes at the front desk and walk around barefoot. Loved it. The room was huge! Clean and cute in a Japanese way. The staff don't speak English so you would just have to gesture and smile. Shdnt be hard to just check in and out. The location though was not ideal for us. It's far from the standard attractions unless you want to be near the famous River thing. Would stay near the Nikko train station if I went there again.

Nice traditional hotel in the area. Close to everywhere by drive. You can rent a private onsen for about $30 for 50 minutes. Good experience.
