Small but impressive art gallery. Works from prominent Japanese artists make the visit worth it. I spend a lot of time in art galleries and made it through here in less than 90 minutes. Would be possible to experience this gallery in around 45 minutes.

Great display area, small but only 300yen entry. At the time was displaying mainly Japanese Artists.

Great place! I saw a exhitbition is free. In the 2F, you can find a cafe shop with 5 star view. They also serve some desserts and drinks. Good tasty and very reasonable price.

The thirty, forty foot long mural featuring Akita cultural festivals, traditions, local products, and customs is really the center attraction here. You can spend a surprising amount of time looking at it from all the different perspectives. It's a fascinating piece made by a famous Japanese artist for the museum itself. This artist was one of many experimenting with using Western painting and portait techniques to paint uniquely local, Japanese scenes. Very, very neat. Plus, it's only 500 yen to get in.
