Kinugawaonsen Station

Main train station for those traveling to Nikko, many souvenir shops near the station and probably the best place to stay for a one-night trip. Also the place to catch the steam train during the winter!

Wow.Natural beauty it is.

Nikko is also famous its onsen which is close to Tokyo. On my last night in Nikko, even if I had very short time to make it, I visited. However, the onsen for non-stay(in the hotel in this place) tourists, they close around at 18:00. Some of public place close by 20:00.The info center of the station gave me the list and I tried. If you have plan to visit the area for onsen, pls be there in the daytime.

A very quiet and peaceful small town of hot spring. in front of the station, there is a small kiosk which people can soak their feet into the hot spring. On Saturday around 5 o'clock in front of the railway station, the steam-hauled tourist trains will be turned around by the turntable. the show is around 5-10 mins. The turntable was installed in front of the station during 2016 for turning the steam locomotive to be used on steam-hauled tourist trains operating between Shimo-Imaichi and Kinugawa-Onsen from 2017. In the Autumn people can enjoy the maple view along the river side.

I bought round tickets and took a lovely steam train(SL TaiJu).
