First time trying a ryokan and it was a great experience. The room was very spacious and comfortable. We were given matcha and matcha snacks to try which were a plus. There was a little sunroom/porch behind the sleeping area where you overlook the beautiful Uji River. The breakfast was very simple yet elaborate as it comes with many small dishes. Location wise, it's around a 15 minute walk from the station so it's fairly convenient. There are many stores around that sell matcha goods; keep in mind though that the shops close very early. Also not far away is the Byodo-in temple which is also a nice place to visit.

Good sized traditional Ryokan rooms, it makes you feel like you're in a different century. Vending machine available in the hotel. Breakfast and dinner was amazing, very traditional and different types of food were served. A good idea can be a walk at 5 am to see the sunrise. An amazing place who wants to experience the countryside Japan.

Restful , Spiritual place Huge rooms, but confronting as no Bed, until they are set up for the night Beds were comfortable (Futons on the floor) Bamboo covered rooms, Fridge on the porch area Nice river sounds Despite the large room , the fittings were small and I felt like a clumsy giant. Good walking area and lots of food options (some European) available with in a 10 minute walk Rooms had views · Guests liked the large rooms, though some said they were dated & maintenance could be improved · Guests liked the comfortable beds

Hotels with Japan traditional life designs, I was sleeping on the floor, and the hotel also provides public hot springs which are commonly called "Onsen"... interesting enough to stay in this hotel.

Great service from the moment our taxi pulled up. They helped us unload our luggage, put our shoes away (change to slippers) and brought our luggage up to our room after showing us to our room. There was a spider in our room but they promptly helped us get rid of it. Room is spacious, and has a gorgeous view. We went out for a walk around Uji soon after and they prepared our futons. Check out was smooth (10am) and they held our luggage for two hours while we shopped. I enjoyed my stay :)
