Hotel Ichinose

Second weekend staying here this weekend, hoping this odd winter somehow extends to March and we can sneak another trip in. My wife and I really enjoyed staying here. There is no true onsite parking but they will help you unload your stuff and then take you to the parking lot that is only a few minutes away. The hotel is clean, well organized, and most staff speak some limited English; above all, the staff are very friendly! There is a gift shop that sells a bit of everything, from alcohol to t shirts and snacks. There is a cafe/restaurant that serves lunch and there is a large area where breakfast is served. The breakfast is mostly traditional Japanese; there is a wide variety although some of the food is left sitting out and not very hot. There is a public bath, not a true onsen, that is clean and spacious. After a long day of skiing the bath seemed to really help with minor aches and pains. The rooms are traditional with tatami floors. Some rooms have private bathrooms. Overall the rooms were clean and spacious. There is a large ski locker / changing area. About 20-30ft from the hotel is the slope to ski down and get lift tickets. Some have posted negatively about large groups of students staying here. There happened to be a very large group of high school students staying here this past weekend - they couldn’t have been more respectful and well behaved; a few of them even approached my wife and I to practice their English and we really enjoyed speaking with them. The only major downside, not specific to this hotel but to Shiga Kogen, is that ‘nightlife’ and dining options are very limited. 3/4 nights we’ve spent here we have gone to Teppa Room. Great izakaya, less than 10 minute walk from the hotel. There is definite charm, coziness, and convenience here. We look forward to the next trip!

Spent 5 days here for school's ski school. Great food and a really warm and comfortable public bath

Best place in SK. Definitely recommend.

First of all, the place called Shiga Kogen was very good, and I was more relaxed by the kind staff at Hotel Ichinose.
