Very traditional old house in kyoto, small and very basic. In winter it's very very cold,. Bathroom and shower room in downstairs in a outside area, so very cold in winter. Not attached to room, so have to leave the room togo to the shared toilet and shower, which is not great if its cold as is the case in winter. No TV or modern appliances in the room, so be prepared. Good location near sanjo shotengai. It's good four couple of days, but can be hard work for long time fir reasons mentioned above with bathroom etc. Staff friendly and helpful. Just be aware it's an old, very old house, buy that's part of its character Location is good, very close to nijo mae Station, easy to find, but on a night time it's not easy to find at all Couple of days here is good, longer than this can be hard work... As its very basic accommodation. Rustic in nature.

The House is old (over 100years old) but beautiful! A must see for every japanese architecture fans! Near from the Nijo castle and easy to walk everywhere. The room are simple and japanese traditional! Great staff, helpful and friendly!

I am so surprised that I did not get to take a picture of this beautiful house! Claudia, one of the employees, informed us that this house is 130 years old. Since this was an old house, it was very cold and the fact that the bathroom was outside did not help. However, because this again is a traditional house (very well maintained and beautiful though), even being cold felt like a part of an experience. Everyone was really friendly and I would stay here again next time I visit :)

The best place ive ever been! Traditional style of clean accomodation with great location would give you comfortable and new experience. I felt like stay home cuz of nice staffs and kind owner. Sanitary condition is the best in room, rest room, and shower room. Lobby's interiot is also impressive. Want to say sorry to you for giving late review since i lost my password. I remember how you were nice to your customer by serving everything you can do trying to take care of me, when i was cold in winter. If i travel tokyo, im sure ill stay your place again.

Stayed here for 2 nights a few weeks ago. Building is very authentic. You are provided a futon on a bamboo floor. The futons are comfy and should be suitable for most to sleep on. The stairs to the upper floor are a little steep so elderly may need to keep that in mind. Location is great and close to convenient stores and main street. Staff were friendly also. Wifi and amenities were great. Recommended for those seeking a authentic japenese experience.
