A very local museum. We were lucky enough to arrive there on the day for free, which happens once a year. It will be way better if it provides English for illustration.

Some interesting artifacts housed in an old bank with its own history. Some English language descriptions would have made the visit more informative and enjoyable.

Utilize the building of Owada Bank as a museum. You can see unique modern relics such as Japan's oldest elevator and retro toilet bowl. In addition, the collection of Japanese paintings from Edo to modern times is substantial and spectacular. Personally, I like the original works. The exhibition space is small and the number of works that can be exhibited at one time is limited, but it is just right for viewing without getting tired. Although Tsuruga has few highlights, please take a look at this collection.

The museum is a renovated building of the former Owada Bank head office, but first of all, this building is wonderful. You can see the state of the bank at that time on the first floor, and the auditorium on the third floor is also excellent. And above all, I am attracted to the high aspirations of managing this bank. It is also interesting to have a unique collection of Japanese paintings. It's not a complete collection of famous works, but it's quite good.

Is the Tsuruga City Museum more like a museum than a history museum ... ⁉️ (Although some spaces introduce the history of Tsuruga after the Meiji Restoration ... 😅), many works of art including paintings It is in the collection and is regularly re-exhibited. The old bank building has been renovated and used almost as it is. From the outside, it is a museum of Western-style architecture from the Meiji era. Since it is a former bank building, there are still a large safe, VIP room, luxurious meeting room, etc., and you can see it as it is at that time.
