Quite a substantial walk from the Midosuji Line to the Chuo Line. Not undoable but people with luggage will find it tiring, esp during peak hours.

The walk between lines and exits is LONG. Be warned if carrying bags/suitcases and in a rush!

A transfer station for the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line, Chuo Line, and Yotsubashi Line. The Midosuji Line is the oldest station on the Osaka Metro, which opened at the same time as the opening between Umeda Station and Shinsaibashi Station in 1933. The Chuo Line opened in 1964 when Bentencho Station and Hommachi Temporary Station opened. Honmachi Temporary Station was tentatively opened after completing the current Platform 1 as land acquisition did not proceed due to eviction. The Yotsubashi Line opened as Shinanobashi Station in 1965 when Nishi-Umeda Station and Daikokucho Station opened. The central line was originally planned at an elevated station, but the construction of the Senba Center Building and the Hanshin Expressway were decided, and the plan was changed to the underground line. During the subway construction, the Chuo Line was constructed so as to sandwich the Senba Center Building, so the acquisition of land near the Midosuji Line was delayed, but finally in 1969, the Chuo Line Hommachi Station Line 2 was completed, and the Senba Center Building No. 10 was completed. It opened at the same time. The reason why the platform of the Chuo Line extends from the Yotsubashi Line side to the Midosuji Line side in a Y shape is that deep foundation work was done from the strength design of the building where the Hanshin Expressway rides on the Senba Center Building. The underground roads were moved to both ends of Chuo Boulevard so that the construction of the building would not be delayed and the opening of the Chuo Line would not be affected. This is also because the Chuo Boulevard, which has a width of 80m and has a structure that sandwiches the Senba Center Building, has been constructed. With this completion, the Midosuji Line, Chuo Line, and Yotsubashi Line became the current form of Hommachi Station, and Shinanobashi Station on the Yotsubashi Line changed its name to Hommachi Station and continues to this day.
