I stayed here in a single room during my trip to Japan a few years ago, and this was easily one of the best places I stayed at on my trip. I was able to get into my room early, which was very welcome. Although compact, the room had everything I needed, and it was spotless and comfortable. Staff were absolutely wonderful. Now... The location isn't the greatest, but it's a bit of a trade-off given the prices for single rooms are considerably lower than those in the touristy areas. Overall, great. I would absolutely return on future travels.

A bit of a walk from Kyoto Station but very much walkable. I actually prefer to stay at the less busy and touristy side of town whenever I'm travelling and Hotel Anteroom's location is perfect. I stayed most of days here while travelling around Kyoto, I actually even managed a day trip to Himeji and Kobe, came back here by night time. You'll just have to check on the train schedules. Also what I love here is the availability of a washing machine and it's free for use. I've learned to pack less and having laundry in between is essential.

Spent more than a month at the hotel in two periods of 20 and 10 days earlier in the year. Very friendly staff at the welcome desk but also in the breakfast area - a breakfast which was diverse and delicious every morning. My single room was very clean and quiet. Well organized and comfortable even of extended period of times. A bar most of the evening with interesting local beers and original whiskys. A great place. Happy to be back on another occasion.

Hotel Anteroom was one of the best hotels during our two week stay in Japan. The basic rooms are spacious with a dining/sitting area, large bathrooms (with separate toilet), and a small but helpful foyer. The bed is large and comfy and the air conditioning was powerful, perfect for those that like a chilled room while they sleep. The hotel offers all sorts of helpful amenities like laundry (dryers are so-so), a bar with great cocktails/whisky, and a delicious breakfast service. The hotel has a small art gallery and various works around the hotel and in the rooms. The staff were exceptionally helpful with whatever we needed. Subsequent hotels highlighted how good we had it at anteroom!
