Must see this memorial park and museum. It’s the “Vietnam Wall” equivalent of the Battle of Okinawa... except it’s a memorial for all three sides who fought in this battle.

Due to COVID-19 the memorial history center was closed unfortunately. Anyway I found the hiding cave which was almost re-fixed with stones inside but it remains the old-time burnt like. It was great to find these caves near the seaside. I prayed there. It is worth visiting there to learn the history happened on the Earth.

This is a beautiful and peaceful place. I love the architecture of the buildings and memorials. We enjoyed walking through the park and paid respect. Be sure to bring your walking shoes and some water.

Mabuni Hill Fire and Bell Festival- greeting the New Year with a prayer for peace. Takes place right in front of the peace memorial. Definitely an interesting and meaningful way to begin the year. Can be very windy and cold- best to dress warm. Can also include lots of walking- as parking lots fill rapidly (many Okinawans and tourists come to watch the fireworks and the illumination).
