The Loosdrechts Plassen area is ideally suited for water sports: sailing, rowing, canoeing, water skiing and fast motor boating are all possible. However, a number of restrictions have been imposed on fast motor boat travel through the Motor Boats Decree. There are five public recreation islands in the lake area, with a total of around 240 berths. There are still mooring places on the west side of the lakes, consisting of poles with purlins. For disabled water sports enthusiasts there is the island of Robinson Crusoë where there is a beautiful adapted overnight accommodation, with an extensive fleet of adapted ships. On the south side of the Vijfde Plas lies the large day recreation area De Strook, accessible from the Nieuweweg and - of course - from the water. Around the lakes are numerous water sports companies: boat builders and repairers, boat rental companies, ship brokers, sail makers, cruise companies, sailing and water ski schools, etc. Of course, the hospitality industry and accommodation are also available. Nature areas Limited accessible nature areas • The Eastern Vuntus area (only accessible via the Vuntus route for canoes and rowing boats); • De Ster (partly accessible for non-motorized vessels); • Southern Kievitsbuurt (accessible to non-motorized vessels). The pee As the name implies, the Loosdrecht lakes consist of different pools. Most important is the large connected complex of (from north to south) the First to the Fifth Lake. These pools are somewhat separated by islands and reed beds. Separated from these puddles by the Nieuw Loosdrechtsedijk and Herenweg / Breukeleveense Meentje lies the Breukeleveense or Silent Plas in the south-east corner. West of the Vuntus and the Eerste Plas are the Loenderveense Plas and the Waterleidingplas. The lake Het Wijde Blik, located to the north of the Loenderveense Plas. The Kievits neighborhoods are located in the southwest corner of the area: two large mooring areas separated from the lakes by Kalverstraat, one of the most important waterways in the area. Mooring places In addition to mooring facilities on the islands, there are other public mooring sites in the Loosdrechts Plassen area. The laying fields of the Plassenschap are marked by a pole with a yellow head. The mooring provisions of the Island Ordinance of the Plassenschap apply to these mooring places. For all mooring places, mooring may take place for a maximum of three consecutive days. The use of all mooring places is free. Layers In the Loosdrechts Plassen area there are three more large complexes with shelves. These are remnants of the time that peat was still being extracted on a large scale in the area. The dredged peat was spread on the layers so that it could dry into peat. Due to wind and waves, many layers of land have disappeared and eventually large open puddles were created. We consider the remaining layers to be of great natural, landscape, cultural-historical and recreational importance. The Plassenschap Loosdrecht et al. Over the past few decades, in particular in this area, it has purchased large numbers of laying grounds and has also drained a considerable part of it. The background to this shelf policy was that the shelves formed a very characteristic landscape image for the Loosdrecht Lake District. The preservation of these areas was - and still is - considered of great importance. The management and maintenance of the elongated and very vulnerable islands entails very high costs. For the survival of the fields, embankments are absolutely necessary. A number of fields from both the shelf and from private individuals have largely disappeared due to lack of maintenance due to wind and wave impact. Due to the expiry of the protection of these fields, a domino effect is created, which also threatens to knock other fields away.
