A tenement house located on the corner of 6 Sierpnia and Al. Kosciuszko belonged to the Lodz manufacturer Karol Kretschmer. Originally in this place was his weaving handkerchief, which he moved on ul. Copernicus 62. This tenement house - to this day impressive and delightful - was built for Kretschmer in 1896. The author of the architectural design was Franciszek Chełmiński. The building was erected in an eclectic style with a very rich façade. Being at the tenement house, it's worth taking a look at her yard. One of the few booths in Łódź survived there (about 20 left). Kuczka was a hut, porch or gazebo, which devout Jews put up during the Sukkot festival in autumn. These permanent structures have survived to this day - and one of them can be seen at the Kretschmer tenement (from the side of 6 Sierpnia Street).
