This is the center of Omsk, the point where Omka and Irtysh merge. Omka is a stormy river, carries a lot of clay and has a red color, the Irtysh is blue and more calm. From the confluence point, the river is painted in two colors, reddish and bluish. Directly in the middle of the river there is a dividing line, and so it goes beyond the horizon without shedding. Monument to Chernyshevsky, but I thought that some kind of monk .... From far away he looks like a monk, there’s also a church nearby. Pyramidal poplars were decorated with flowers very interestingly ... a whole alley. They even led me astray. ... the azalea fades from far away, but it’s obviously not azalea, it’s come closer, obviously, the flowers on the tree, and obviously not the azalea. I was too lazy to cross the road to make sure and decide what blooms.

Monument F.M. Dostoevsky in Omsk, Russia is not the only object of the city associated with the name of the famous Russian writer. The literary museum, library, university - all this is named in honor of Fyodor Mikhailovich, who spent not the best period of his life in Omsk. In the 1840s, a young writer, carried away by revolutionary ideas, was sentenced to Siberian exile. The place of his imprisonment was the Omsk prison, where he was forced to live for 4 years, from 1850 to 1854. Among literary critics there is an opinion that it was here that Dostoevsky rethought his life and formed as a future writer. Although he did not create any literary works in Omsk. Anyway, but the locals are very proud of Fyodor Mikhailovich’s belonging to their city. On November 12, 2001, on the very street where he had to go every day, a five-meter monument was erected, made by the sculptor S. Golovantsev together with the architect A. Karimov. The year and date for installation, as well as the place, were not chosen by chance. The event is timed to the writer's 180th birthday. Dostoevsky appears pensive at the monument. It is as if he is moving forward, overcoming strong gusts of wind, and his thoughts are somewhere far away. In the hand of Fyodor Mikhailovich the Gospel. This book was not just chosen - nothing but the Gospel was allowed to read in prison. The authors of the project managed to surprisingly achieve not only the external, but also the internal similarity of the sculpture with reality. At the same time, the view of the monument is simple and concise. As well as the signature on it: Dostoevsky. The monument to F.M.Dostoevsky is installed at the intersection of Partizanskaya and Spartakovskaya streets in the historical part of Omsk. You can get to it by bus, the nearest public transport stop is the Drama Theater.

Beautiful monument. In my opinion, the most suitable writer.

From 1850 to 1854, Dostoevsky spent in the Omsk prison. And given that the years spent in Omsk became for Dostoevsky the heaviest burden in his life and served as an important point in the formation of his work, this monument is simply necessary for the city. The severe appearance of the statue of the writer, well reflects his feelings held here.
