Usad'ba Saltykova-Shchedrina

New museum, church and usadba.

There is no homestead. At the estate site there is a glass cube of the museum dedicated to the writer, with one hall on the second floor. The manor house is represented by a layout in which I was interested in an unusual rafter system. A very quick slurred tour, though quite inexpensive at 70 rubles per person. There is a toilet. More than an hour to do nothing.

This is a new museum. Everything is clear. Pleasant atmosphere. They were on the eve of the opening of the cafe, so there was a reshuffle and all the locals were preparing for apple saving. Nevertheless, the guide took us through the hall of the museum and told us about the writer’s mother, about the life and life of these places where Mikhail Evgrafovich was born and raised. If you are in these parts do not take the time. They invited us to come in 7 years - by this time they believe that they will restore the estate. And I believe them. Recommended.

Spas-Ugol - a village located at the gathering (corner) of three provinces: Moscow, Tver and Yaroslavl. First mentioned in the scribe book in 1627. Here on January 15, 1826 the writer Mikhail Evgrafovich Saltykov-Shchedrin was born and lived until 1836. The Preobrazhenskaya church built in 1795 is preserved. Saltykov-Shchedrin described his memories of life in the village of Spas-Ugol in the book "Poshekhonskaya Starina". Now in the village of Spas-Ugol there is a monument to the writer and the museum of Saltykov-Shchedrin is functioning.
