The exact date and circumstances of the foundation are unknown. However, legendary information dates the time of its origin to the 13th century, possibly to the period of the reign of the noble prince Roman of Uglichsky. Originally located on the banks of the Volga, near the mouth of the Trinity brook. First mentioned in the second half of the 15th century: Archimandrite Nathanael was a contemporary of the Uglich Prince Andrei Bolshoi, was present at the consecration of the Intercession Cathedral in the Uglich monastery of the same name in 1482 (Archimandria was preserved in the monastery until the moment of its closure in 1764)
