It is no coincidence that a monument to the seamen of the North Sea (Volgograd) was erected next to the elevator located on Raboche-Krestyanskaya Street. During the Patriotic War, fierce battles between the Russian army and the Nazis took place for this object. The Volgograd elevator was an excellent point for shelling nearby areas and controlling the approaches to the Volga. It should be noted that not only sailors from the North Sea, to whom the monument was erected, but also infantrymen and artillerymen took part in the battles for the elevator. The 92nd Infantry Brigade, consisting of marines, as well as tanks and artillery, arrived to the aid of the already fighting soldiers. Several times the Volgograd elevator passed from the hands of Russian soldiers to the Nazis, and on September 22, the situation for the Soviet troops finally deteriorated: they ran out of food and ammunition, and many were seriously injured. As a result, after several hours of unsuccessful attempts to break the enemy's resistance, the Russian army was forced to leave the encirclement.

This is one of the memorable places. the legacy of the Great War, especially holy venerated by sailors.
