Beautiful nature, like to come here in autumn and spring
On a high, caught a duck, fried. Swam
The place is good, ebb and flow constantly occur (not strong by about 30 cm), the water is warm, the depth is very small (to dive headlong, you need to move about 80 meters away). The surface of the beach is sandy.
But there is a minus, fittings stick out at the entrance to the beach, there is debris, metal structures stick out at the edge of the beach with an interval of 1-1.5 m, you need to look under your feet so as not to run into!
The islands are located on the very left bank of the Kuibyshev reservoir opposite the Zhigulevsky mountains and the Samarskaya Luka nature reserve, in the southeastern part of the Avtozavodsky district of Togliatti, within walking distance, 20 minutes walk from public transport stops. You can also get here by bike or on foot.
Each of the islands has its own look, not like the others. The islands are separated by numerous channels, sandbanks and wild beaches. In the spring, fishermen catch crucian carp and carp in the reeds.
Swimming is officially prohibited here, because of the currents caused by the ebb and flow from the work of the hydroelectric power station, pits on the sandy bottom can appear anywhere, even three meters from the shore. Therefore, the islands are considered a dangerous swimming place, especially for those who cannot swim. But, personally, I sometimes swim on the islands, of course, I do not call anyone for this. I like nature here, smooth sand, ease of entry into the water and warm water.
The islands are also a paradise for athletes and health lovers. Here you can meet cyclists, runners, kayakers. The water area is protected by the islands from strong winds and waves of the Kuibyshev reservoir. There is a sports school for rowing of the Olympic reserve in kayaks and canoes, there is a rowing canal.
There are also several small private yacht clubs and boating stations. On one of the islands there is a small camp site "Ostrov" with houses, a bathhouse, barbecue facilities, trampolines. On this island there are even two lakes with a pontoon and a bungee.
There, in the distance, we see the hotel "Fortuna", now it seems to be called "Lada-Resort", it was overhauled several years ago, friends rested there, they say, excellent cuisine, service, rooms overlooking the sea and Zhigulevskie mountains, the price started from 6,000 rubles per day. In Soviet times, many pioneer camps worked here, some of them still work today.
The largest, central island is called "Elvis" island. It is actually called that, you can make sure with the help of the map. Why it is called that, I do not know. According to one hypothesis on the Internet, the island resembles the head of Elvis Presley in images from space.
Unfortunately, one of the problems of the islands is the garbage left by careless vacationers. This is another danger to beach vacationers, apart from underwater pits. The garbage is not getting smaller, unfortunately, in spite of the regular actions to clean up the territory by volunteers.
There is another interesting fact. In 2018, the Moscow State Research University of Civil Engineering published an article on the transformation of Ant Islands into a unique tourist and recreational zone. There is currently no information about this project.
We are now all waiting for the start of repairs to the embankment of the 6th and 8th quarters, which is about to begin, as the officials promise.
After all, the embankment was built during the construction of the Avtozavodsky district itself, since then it has never been repaired.
This is all that I wanted to tell you about Ant Islands today.
A romantic and cozy place on the banks of the Volga 🥰 I would also like people not to litter, clean up after themselves.
