Krasnokholmsky Nicholas St. Anthony Monastery

Everything is destroyed, everyone is gone, but the sanctity of this place remains. Come feel it. Remained frescoes, stones with inscriptions. There is still something where you can come, what to see and stand in silence.

The most beautiful and richest monastery, is now in ruin. But not War is the reason for this, but Soviet time, which destroyed the ensemble almost completely. Since last year, the ruins of the main St. Nicholas Cathedral are dressed in warm forests, so that next year the restoration can begin. A small wooden church has been built on the territory, where regular services are held. Even in such a dilapidated state, the Monastery Ensemble is striking in its grandeur and it is definitely worth coming here and bowing to the Mastery of architects of past centuries. Moreover, the names of Great People — Ivan the Terrible, Catherine the Great, Tyutchevs, Sheremetevs, Buturlins, Shcherbakovs and many other famous people — are forever inscribed in the history of the monastery.
