Today the Odoyevskaya Tower is a recognized symbol of the city. The tower is called so because in ancient times the road to the city of Odoev began from it, which has survived to this day. This is the central thoroughfare of the city - Lenin Avenue, Kievskaya Street before the revolution. Therefore, at one time the tower was called the Kiev gate. Later they began to call it Kazan, after the nearby chapel in the name of the Kazan Mother of God. In 1784, during the first major overhaul of the Kremlin, the tower of the Odoevsky Gate received a superstructure in the form of a tower with a dome and a spire with an eagle. It was a sign of gratitude to the grateful Tula people before Empress Catherine II, who for the first time in the history of the Tula Kremlin allocated state funds for the restoration of the monument.
