It was designed by sculptor Orekhov and erected in the center of Kazan on August 22, 1985. The monument is located in the center of the republican capital, on a high hill, in the place of which the city authorities propose to build the National Library of Tatarstan. Few people know that this is not its original location. Previously, the monument was located at the intersection of G. Tukay and F. Karim Streets, and served as a meeting place for protesters. Then rallies and freedom of speech were canceled and here he is :)
