Great church, great puppet theater. If you decide to explore the Amalienau area on your own, you will start from this church. Nearby there is an artist's house, a former shelter for the poor.

Childhood. Christmas tree. Mandarins ... German cemetery. The stinking river. Skittles. This is my city!

The Church of the Remembrance of Queen Louise is a historical building in Kaliningrad, one of the attractions of the city. In the past - the Lutheran church, now in the building of the church is located the Kaliningrad Regional Puppet Theater. Address - Victory Avenue, 1 (in the territory of Central Park). The church was built in memory of Queen of Prussia Louise (1776-1810). The author of the project is the architect Friedrich Heitmann. The church was built in 1899-1901. On the south side, a priest’s house and a house for those confirming were added to the church, similar in style to the church itself (not preserved). The church building was damaged during the war and for a long time stood in ruins without use. In the sixties, it was planned to be demolished, but the church was saved by the architect of the State Civil Engineering Design Institute, Yuri Vaganov, who developed a project to convert the former church building into a puppet theater building. In accordance with this project, the church was restored and began to operate in a new capacity in 1976. The exterior of the restored building is largely consistent with its pre-war appearance, while the interior has been completely redesigned to better match the new function of the building. The remains of the arches were demolished, and the church was divided into two floors with modern ceilings. The first floor is used as an exhibition hall, the second is a hall for performances.

A beautiful building. It is a pity that its internal content and the surrounding landscape do not correspond to such an architectural monument.

Interesting building. If you are nearby, you can walk to see.
