Memorial Na Meste Gibeli Yu.a. Gagarina I V.s. Serogina

This is the historical place where the plane with the cosmonaut Gagarin and the pilot Seryogin crashed. The enthusiasm of Alexei Arkhipovich Leonov helped to save the memorial from desolation, and the temple of St. Andrew the First-Called, to which that fatal "Mig" did not fly just 250 meters, to restore after the Soviet devastation. Recently, a bell with the name of Alexei Arkhipovich Leonov was raised to the bell tower of the church. The solemn welcome in honor of raising the bell turned out to be very warm. And the cosmonauts, and the ministers of the church, and the relatives of Alexei Arkhipovich, and the relatives of the pilot Seryogin, and local residents, and summer residents, and representatives of the regional authorities - everyone felt like masters at this holiday! The memorial at the site of the death of Gagarin and Seryogin is located near the village of Novoselovo, Kirzhachsky district, Vladimir region. If you are going to travel along the Golden Ring, please stop by this place of piercing memory of Gagarin and of all the first cosmonauts! The temple next to the monument was restored, and painted according to the sketches of Alexei Arkhipovich Leonov. Nearby there is an airplane, the same one on which Gagarin flew as a test pilot. The maintenance of the monument is financed only from the local, Kirzhach budget. But this is the first cosmonaut of the planet! The more tourists there will be, the stronger the hope that many generations will remember that our Russian Yuri Gagarin was the first in space!

It is a pity that the memorial was not completed yet. But it is worth visiting there whenever possible. Keep in mind that the memorial itself is in one place, and before the airplane you still have to stomp through the churchyard. They also sell magnets, badges and some other souvenirs))))

This place is in a very deplorable state. Surprisingly, the place of death of the first man who flew into space, famous all over the world, is in a wretched state !! As far as I am interested, the creation of this memorial complex is the work of the disinterested hands of the Hero of the Soviet Union, pilot-cosmonaut Alexei Leonov. At his own expense and on his own initiative, he supervised the construction of objects on the territory of the memorial and participated in the repair and restoration of the Church of St. Andrew the First-Called. Last year Leonov died and, apparently, the work stopped. Apparently the country is not interested in this memory of the hero ...

What can I say. Before that was the last time about 2 years ago. Since then, there have been changes. Judging by the plan that hangs at the entrance, a large complex is planned to be built. But in fact, they did something, put up a small chapel, and that's it, the construction ended there ... and as the local "overseer" said, it is not known when they will continue. As a result, the poster has a quite worthy place in the plans, but in fact they did something and abandoned it.

Terrible is the plan to transform this sad but beautiful place into another patriotic park. Hope it won't come true.
