The Assumption Brusensky Convent is one of two monasteries on the territory of the Kolomna Kremlin in Kolomna on Lazhechnikova Street. The bright red unique architecture of the monastery building is immediately visible when you enter the streets of Staraya Kolomna. Like a fairytale tower, it attracts attention. In 1922 the monastery was closed, its inhabitants were evicted, and the buildings were adapted for a hostel and a vegetable store. In 1997, the monastery was renewed, and since that time its buildings have been gradually restored. In 2006, the restoration of the Holy Cross Cathedral was completed.

It is very beautiful and fabulous like a cake at the entrance to the Kremlin - it would be nice to remove the terrible concrete lighting pillars around, reminiscent of the Council of Deputies, and it would be delightful as if you were in the Middle Ages and can truly enjoy history and patriotism! #MoscowCenter writes about the best

The monastery was founded in 1552. Initially, the monastery was male. In the Time of Troubles, he was badly damaged and was restored as a female. In the 1790s, a gate bell tower was built, in the 1820s - a fence with pseudo-Gothic towers. In 1848-1855, on the initiative of the abbess of the Olympics, a cathedral, three residential buildings and outbuildings were erected in the monastery. In 1881-1883, the building for the refectory and the almshouse was built on the western side of the Assumption Church, and the church itself was rebuilt. In 1922 the monastery was closed, its inhabitants were evicted, and the buildings were adapted for a dormitory and vegetable store. Later, the gate bell tower and the completion of the Holy Cross Cathedral were destroyed. In 1971-1980, under the leadership of S.P. Orlovsky, the Assumption Church was restored, as a result of which the original appearance was returned to it. In 1997, the monastery was renewed, and since then its buildings have been gradually restored. In 2006, the restoration of the Holy Cross Cathedral was completed.

This is a secular review! In one of the buildings that make up the ensemble of the monastery, there is a wonderful collection of clay toys from different regions of Russia - the exposition of inventive and very touching Skopin items is especially bright. There is also an amazing exhibition of ceramics and paintings by Lyudmila Soshinskaya (this is in January 2020, no one knows for sure how long it will go). Special thanks to the polite friendly staff who are happy to answer questions, show and tell.

Good place! A modest working abode for women nuns. It's nice to be here! Really liked the bell chime and singing👏
