Petrovitsky boulder A few millennia ago, a retreating glacier scattered stone evidence of its presence. In our area, they are everywhere. However, against the background of the rest - the Petrovitsky boulder makes a really strong impression! It is believed that the stone giant is the largest representative among the boulders of glacial origin in northwest Russia. The size of the stone is approximately 33 meters in girth and 5.5 meters in height at its highest point. According to some estimates, its weight is at least 500 tons! Retreating, the glacier "took with it as a keepsake" of rocks, transferring them over considerable distances. So now one can only guess where the Petrovitsky boulder came from to the Izhora Upland. Like many of his brothers, during his "journey" under the influence of ice, water, wind, the "stone guest" has lost its sharp corners and has a rounded surface. Despite its "venerable age", which can be counted in many millions of years, the Petrovitsky boulder "looks young beyond its years." It is easy to drive up to the stone by any transport and it is very clearly visible.

Just a huge boulder in the field. It even made a staircase. Not big, but enough. Around it is very beautiful, there is an apple tree nearby. Blooms gorgeous. You can drive through the field, there is a road. And not much to go. True, it’s clear that some just go brazenly across the field. And the boulder is not visible from the road. But actually it’s really big. From an asphalt road about 500 meters. Maybe more.
