Smolensk fortress wall

Today I visited the historical place of the city of Smolensk. The fortress wall was built in 1602 by the architect Fedor Kon. This object is a historical architectural value of the city of Smolensk. The wall itself is not completely preserved located in parts from each other. Not far from the wall there is an observation deck of the Assumption Cathedral. From this place the city offers a beautiful view. Also not far from this place is the railway station.

But, basically, access everywhere is closed, despite information on the network that you can freely walk along the wall. The wall itself, at present, as a tourist attraction does not develop in any way, although this is our story. Which, incidentally, is very surprised by foreigners. In some places, sections of the wall are cluttered with picnic lovers, which also causes wild surprise, given the historical and architectural value of the object. A very interesting historical site, but now it is in poor condition. Only in three of the 18 surviving towers are museums and you can get inside. The rest are empty. In the tower of Veselukha, a warehouse of all trash adjacent to the theological seminary of the Smolensk diocese was made. Nowhere is it possible to climb the walls. For years, the Fortress Wall has not been restored, and when funds are being restored, everything seems to be not being properly spent. The wall was laid in 1595 by Boris Godunov, and construction was completed in 1602. In troubled times, it will play a very important role in preserving the Moscow state. The best preserved - the eastern part of the wall is the most picturesque, but you can’t climb the wall there - all entrances are blocked and closed. The surrounding area is not suitable for tourists.
